The Ford Center for
Sports & Recreation is located at 365 Galvez Street. It is at the intersection of Serra
Street and Galvez Street and directly across from Encina Hall. It
is to the south of the Arrillaga Center for Sports
& Recreation. The Ford Center
connects to the north side of the Burnham Pavilion.
Use/Purpose:
The Ford Center and the
Burnham Pavilion are home to the men's and women's
gymnastics teams, the wrestling team, and the men's volleyball team. The Ford Center contains two full-size
basketball courts, a practice area for gymnastics, and several racquetball
courts for recreational use. Office
space, a conference room, and shower/locker room facilities are also located
within the building.
Accessible Entrance:
The main entrance of the
Ford Center is accessible via a ramped pathway and is located on the north side
of the building (across from Ford Plaza).
There are also entrances on the east and west side of the Ford Center
that are accessible. The
racquetball courts have a separate entrance, located at the northwest and
southwest corner of Ford Plaza along Galvez Street, and both are
accessible. The Ford Center is also
accessible via an interior corridor from the Burnham Pavilion.
Restrooms:
Wheelchair accessible
men's and women's restrooms are located at the south
end of the Ford Center, near the entrance leading to the Burnham Pavilion. Wheelchair accessible showers and
lockers are located within each restroom.
Parking & Transportation:
Disabled parking is
located in the parking lot adjacent to the Burnham Pavilion (west side). Additional disabled parking is located
along Galvez Street or on Memorial Way.
The closest Marguerite shuttle stop is located on Galvez Street.
Points of Interest:
The Knight Management
Center - Graduate School of Business is located to the east of the Burnham
