Memorial
Hall (including Memorial Auditorium) is located at 551 Jane Stanford Way. It is
located between Lathrop Library and the Landau Economics Building.
Use/Purpose:
Memorial
Hall is most commonly referred to as "MemAud". Memorial
Hall includes Memorial Auditorium, a large auditorium used for major and/or
large-scale events, and Pigott Theater, a smaller venue for drama productions
and classes. Prosser Studio Theater, used for student productions, is located
on the 2nd floor. KZSU, Stanford's FM radio station broadcasting
across the Bay Area on 90.1 FM, is located in the basement. Currently, there is
no elevator in Memorial Hall, so wheelchair access is limited to the 1st
floor only. There is no wheelchair access to Prosser Studio Theater or KZSU. If
you need to access programs or activities in these spaces, please contact disability.access@stanford.edu or call (650)
725-0326.
Accessible Entrance:
The main entrance to Memorial Hall is equipped with a power-operated door and
accessible via a wheelchair ramp to the left of the stairs. Upon entering Memorial
Hall, the entrance to Memorial Auditorium is directly ahead. Wheelchair seating
is located near the front on either side of the auditorium. In addition, a side
entrance (west side of the building via the courtyard from Jane Stanford Way) of
Memorial Hall provides a step-free route to the front-of-house seating inside MemAud. Pigott Theater is accessible via the side entrance (equipped with a power-operated
door) from Jane Stanford Way through the courtyard on the west side of the building. A
ramp is also located on the west side of the building, providing an accessible
route from the disabled parking on Memorial Way by following the pathway
between Lathrop and MemAud and then up the ramp. Wheelchair
seating is located inside the theater from the side entrance. The
wheelchair accessible route to the stage areas of MemAud
and Pigott Theater are via a wheelchair ramp at the back of Memorial Hall and
through the back entrance (equipped with a power-operated door). Once inside the
back entrance, the stage areas are located down the hall, to the left. Dressing
rooms and office space are also located along this hallway. The
only wheelchair accessible route to the Green Room is through the back entrance
of Memorial Hall, or from Mem Aud stage or Pigott stage.
Restrooms:
There are two wheelchair accessible, single-occupancy,
all-gender restrooms located inside the main entrance of Memorial Hall, on the
left side. A wheelchair accessible, multi-occupancy men's restroom is located
via the side exterior courtyard entrance on the east side of the building. A wheelchair
accessible, multi-occupancy women's restroom is located on the west side of the
building via the side exterior courtyard entrance. There is also a wheelchair
accessible, single-occupancy, all-gender restroom and shower changing facility
at the back of Memorial Hall. Once inside the back entrance, it is located down
the hallway on the right (only operational during non-performance or class times,
or during events at Pigott Theater and MemAud for back of house only). During
Pigott Theater performances, ushers can assist with locating the closest
wheelchair accessible restroom.
Parking & Transportation:
The closest disability parking is located along Memorial Way. Additional disabled
parking is located along Galvez Street or in Lot 87, adjacent to Burnham
Pavilion. The closest Marguerite shuttle stops are located along Jane Stanford Way and
Galvez Street. Please note there is no drop-off in front of Memorial Hall, as
Jane Stanford Way does not have vehicular access.
