Roble Gym is located at 375 Santa Teresa Street.
It is located on the corner of Santa Teresa Street and Samuel Morris Way,
across from Roble Hall.
Use/Purpose:
Originally
the women's gym, Roble Gym went through its most recent renovation and
re-opened in Fall 2016. Roble Gym houses the Theater & Performance Studies
(TAPS) department, the Roble Arts Gym, and flexible rehearsal and art-making
spaces for students. The building includes a new dance studio, black box
theater and several arts gyms.
Accessible Entrance:
The main
entrance, located along Santa Teresa Street, is accessible via a ramp located just
to the left of the stairs. It is equipped with a power-operated door. There is
a ramp located on the east side of the building, however it is not a public
entrance and is only used for egress purposes. Faculty and staff offices are
located on either side once inside the building, and Classroom 136 is located
in the east wing (to the right and on the left hand side). An exterior
courtyard is located beyond the second set of doors (also equipped with a
power-operated door) once inside the main entrance. Along the arcade
surrounding the exterior courtyard are entrances to the studios, gyms and
theater. To the left is Dance Studio 113, 114, 115 and
Arts Gym 116. To the right of the main entrance is the black box theater
(Theater 123), Acting Studio 117 and Arts Gym 116. Each of the entrances to
these areas is equipped with a power-operated door. Wheelchair seating is
located within the black box theater in the front row. Please note the only
step-free entrance down into the courtyard is on the south side, just past the
entrance into the courtyard area. Access to the patio/deck facing Roble Field
(on the west side of the building) is accessible via power-operated doors
inside Studio 113.
Restrooms:
Wheelchair
accessible men's and women's restrooms are located
along the arcade at the back of the courtyard (north side). There are also single occupancy, all gender restrooms located in both
wings, once inside the main entrance. In addition, on the west wing (left side
once inside the main entrance), there are two additional single occupancy, all
gender restrooms that are wheelchair accessible and include roll-in showers, but
are not open to the public. Finally, please
note that there are two all gender, single occupancy, wheelchair accessible
restrooms for performers located backstage of the black box theater.
Parking & Transportation:
A small amount of disabled parking is located across
the street from Roble Gym in Lot-31 on Santa Teresa Street. Roble Field Garage,
adjacent to Roble Gym (west side), will be open in October 2016 and will
provide ample disabled parking for the surrounding areas. Marguerite shuttle
stops are located along Panama Street and Samuel Morris Way.
