The Physics and Astrophysics building is located at
452 Lomita Mall. It is at the corner of
Lomita Mall and the East-West Axis and is across from the west side of the Main
Quad, between the Varian Physics Labs and the Moore MaterialsResearch
building.
Use/Purpose:
The Physics and Astrophysics building serves as a
central building for the Physics department, containing offices, laboratories,
and classrooms. The Physics Tutoring
Center is located in the sub-basement.
Accessible Entrance:
The main entrance is located on East-West Axis,
across from the Moore Materials Research building, and is equipped with a
power-operated door. Once inside, the
elevator is located to the left. The
elevator provides access to all floors (SB, B, 1 and 2). An additional
accessible entrance to the Physics and Astrophysics building is available via a
ramp directly in front of the Varian Building, providing access to the
courtyard between the two buildings. There
is also an accessible pathway that connects the Varian and Physics &
Astrophysics via an exterior courtyard on the 2nd floor (to the left
once off the elevator).
Restrooms:
All restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Men¿s and women¿s multi-occupancy restrooms
are located directly across from the elevators on all floors. There are currently no single-occupancy,
all-gender restrooms in this building.
Parking & Transportation:
The closest Marguerite shuttle stops are located
along Serra Mall near the west side of the Main Quad. Disabled parking is
located on the Oval (at the end of Palm Drive) and a few disabled spaces are
located on Via Pueblo between Sequoia Hall and Varian Physics Lab.
Points of Interest:
Continuing along the East-West Axis, beyond the Physics and Astrophysics
building, is the Science and Engineering Quad (SEQ). The SEQ includes several
