The Jerry Yang and Akiko Yamazaki Environment
and Energy Building, also known as Y2E2, is located at 473 Via Ortega. It
is at the far west side of the Science and Engineering Quad, near the corner of
Via Ortega and Panama Street.
Use/Purpose:
The Y2E2 building is intended to be a
multidisciplinary collaborative environment for research on the Environment and
Sustainability. Many departments and groups use this building, including Civil
Engineering, Biology, Earth Sciences, and others. There are many large labs,
conference rooms, offices, and classrooms located in the building. The Coupa Cafe is located on the 1st
floor near the northwest corner of the building where a large classroom and
several conference rooms are also located.
Accessible Entrance:
The main public entrance to Y2E2 is located on
Via Ortega. The accessible path of travel to the entrance is via a ramp
near the northwest side of the building. All sides of the Y2E2 building
have at least one accessible entrance. There are two elevators in the
building: one in the smaller of the two buildings, also known as the red
atrium, and one on the eastern side of the larger building, in the section known
as the green atrium. Power-operated doors are located at various entrances
to the building.
Restrooms:
All restrooms within Y2E2 are wheelchair accessible
and located throughout the buildings. There are at least two restrooms for each
gender on each floor, located along the hallways. In addition, there are two
single-occupancy, all-gender restrooms located on the first floor near Coupa Café.
Parking & Transportation:
Disabled parking is located in
the Via Ortega Parking Garage, directly across from Y2E2 on the corner of
Panama Street and Via Ortega. Marguerite shuttle stops are located along
Via Ortega and Panama Street.
Points of Interest:
Y2E2 is one of four buildings in the new Science
and Engineering Quad (SEQ). The building was constructed to high
environmental standards, showcasing sustainable building practices and serves
as a living laboratory for the research conducted inside. Visit the Coupa Café while at Y2E2.Updated:
