1.  Location Tip

The Shriram Center for Bioengineering & Chemical Engineering building is located at 443 Via Ortega. It is at the far west side of the Science and Engineering Quad (SEQ), directly across from Y2E2, at the corner of Via Ortega and Via Pueblo.

2.  Use/Purpose

The Shriram Center houses the Bioengineering Department and Chemical Engineering Department. It is the fourth and final building in the SEQ. The main floor houses teaching spaces for both undergraduate and graduate students. Specialized labs, classrooms, conference spaces and office spaces occupy the basement, sub-basement, and 2nd and 3rd floors.

3.  Accessible Entrance

The main public entrances to the Shriram Center are equipped with power-operated doors and are located on the south side of the building (across from Y2E2) via pathways from the SEQ Courtyard. The amphitheater-style classroom is accessible via a power-operated door near the southwest corner of the building. Once inside this entrance, wheelchair access is limited to the 1st floor. To access other floors of the building, exit the amphitheater-style classroom and enter the building through the main entrance, heading north along the pathway. There are two elevators in the building: one is located to the left once inside the main entrance and the other at the northeast corner of the building.  Elevators provide access to all floors of the building (B, 1, 2, 3).  At the basement level, an interior corridor connects the Shriram Center to the Spilker Engineering & Applied Sciences building.

4.  Restrooms

All men’s and women’s multi-occupancy restrooms within the Shriram Center are wheelchair accessible and located throughout the building, typically on the eastern and western sides of the building. Wheelchair accessible restrooms serving the amphitheater classroom are located via exterior entrances. To access these restrooms, exit the building and turn left; at the end of the pathway turn left again and men’s and women’s restrooms are on the left.  A wheelchair accessible, single-occupancy, all-gender restroom is located on the first floor on the north side of the building.

5.  Parking and Transportation

Disabled parking is located in a small parking lot to the west of the Shriram Center on Via Ortega. Additional disabled parking is also located in the Via Ortega Parking Garage, directly across from Y2E2 on the corner of Panama Street and Via Ortega. Marguerite shuttle stops are located along Via Ortega.
