Location Tip:

The Black Community Services Center is located at 418 Santa Teresa Street. It is near Santa Teresa Street and Lomita Drive, and near the Harmony House and Humanities Center.

Use/Purpose:

The Black Community Services Center (BCSC) is an organization focused on supporting the total advancement and excellence of black students and black student groups within the Stanford Community. The Center houses BCSC staff and includes common areas for fellowship, including the Black Lounge and the recently built, BCSC Community Room across from the Center and connected via a deck and patio.

Accessible Entrance:

There are two accessible entrances to the BCSC. Both entrances are located on the south side of the building and are accessed via a ramp from the disabled parking. This ramp leads to a deck/patio area separating the BCSC and BCSC addition (Community Room). The entrance located furthest east is equipped with a power-operated door.The Community Room has five entrances and all are accessible via the ramp leading to the deck/patio. The entrance on the north side of the building (furthest east) is equipped with a power-operated door.

Restrooms:

There is one wheelchair accessible unisex restroom, centrally located in the BCSC and the men's and women's restrooms in the Community Room are also wheelchair accessible.

Parking & Transportation:

There are several disabled parking spaces available in the parking lot (L-37) adjacent to the BCSC and near the Harmony House. The closest Marguerite shuttle stop is located at the corner of Santa Teresa Street and Lomita Drive.

Points of Interest:

Across the street from the BCSC is the New Guinea Sculpture Garden, one of the most unique sites on campus. Ten artists from New Guinea created the stone and wooden sculptures during a five-month visit in 1994.
